Title: OHT 4 mile Day Hike
Location: Dockery’s Gap TH east to FR1704
Description: From Dockery’s Gap Trailhead located on Locke Rd. and on over to FR 1704. This will be a great Sunday morning to mid-afternoon hike in which participants will get to see a wide variety of wildflowers, trees in bloom, geological formations, and even conduct some very light-duty maintenance along the way. There will be one wet creek-crossing of Hurricane Creek near the end of the hike. This hike is of moderate difficulty and will include about 500 ft of descent over 3.5 miles and end with about a 500 ft ascent. The primary meet-up spot will be at Lake Fort Smith State Park at 9:30 a.m. Please contact hike leader John Pennington at jhpennington.uaex.edu if you plan on participating.

Description: A great day hike opportunity to see some neat bluff lines, early blooming wildflowers, and a little more than 8 miles of trail. Location: Botanical Garden of the Ozarks
Description: We will go beyond the pavement in the northeastern part of Lake Fayetteville City Park to learn about Callie’s Prairie and other changes that will be occuring in the park. Meet at the Bot. Garden of the Ozarks (Hwy 265 or Crossover Rd.) grass parking lot at 9:00. This 3 mile hike is rated Easy. Bring water and a bit to eat. Description: Hike Lost Bridge Loop Trail on Beaver Lake at Lost Bridge Park near Garfield, AR, 6 miles, moderate to difficult. Meet at the trailhead at 10 a.m. It’s in the park just before you get to the marina. Bring lunch to eat on the trail.

Title: Backpack OHT Section 1
Location: Lake Ft. Smith, Frog Bayou to Hurricane Creek
Description: A nice and easy 7 mile overnight backpack trip on part of Section 1 one of the OHT. The hike will be along portions of Lake Fort Smith and scenic Jack’s Creek, and end with a nice 500 foot climb to Dockery’s Gap and descent down to camp near Hurricane Creek. Only a short 1/2 mile hike out Sunday morning leaving time for further exploration of the area. We will make it back to Fayetteville in time for the OHT meeting on the 10th. This will be an easy to moderate trip.
