3rd ANNUAL OZARK CLASSIC HIKE

Title: 3rd ANNUAL OZARK CLASSIC HIKE
Location: SPONSORED BY OZARK SOCIETY HIGHLANDS CHAPTER
Description: The Highlands Chapter of the Ozark Society will again provide support to hikers interested in a sincere mountain challenge.

Start at 8 a.m., at the Fane Creek access of the OHT near Cass AR. Hike the Ozark Highland Trail from Fane Creek (mile 31.6) westward to Hurricane Creek (mile 11.1). Among the most scenic portions of the Ozark Highland Trail, hike approximately 21.5 miles, 2,700′ of ascent over three ridges of the Boston Mountains, wet crossings of Fane, Spirit and Salt Creek drainages. Very strenuous, suggested only for hikers with very high degree of fitness and endurance.

The HCOS will provide a hydration station at Ragtown Road – (FR 1509); a lunch and re-hydration stop near White Rock Mountain, and end of hike celebration snacks. Hiker’s shuttle provided to their vehicles after the event. Hikers will receive a trail map at the start.

Open to the public; membership in the Ozark Society is not required.

Pre-registration and payment of a $ 12 fee for supplies required. Registration must be received by Thursday, April 26th. NO WALK-UP REGISTRATION ALLOWED; must sign liability waiver at start.

Shaddox Hollow Trail Family-Friendly Hike

Title: Shaddox Hollow Trail Family-Friendly Hike
Location: Hobbs State Park
Description: 1.5 Miles hike on Shaddox Hollow Trail at Hobbs State Park. Our guest on this hike will be Bob Ross, Hobbs State Park volunteer and an expert of the flora and fauna of the park’s trails. Bob will lead our group and point out numerous features such as wildflowers, unique vegetation and tree species. This is an ideal hike for parents and children. No pets, please. Plan on 2 hours for this easy to moderate hike that features one formidable climb. This will be the “official” hike. After that, hikers are free to explore the park’s other trails on their own.
