17 Apr BRT/OHT Day Hike
Title: BRT/OHT Day Hike
Location: Zack Ridge Rd to Red Bluff Rd near Morning Star, AR
Description: Well, the hiking season for the OHTA is drawing to a close with the rains and warmer temps necessitating a focus on trail maintenance. However, the EC is not going to throw in the towel on getting out for one more hike this season.
So, mark your calendar for Saturday, May 19, 2018, if you’re interested. The hike will be along the stretch of the BRT-OHT between Zack Ridge Rd. and Red Bluff Rd. north and slightly west of Marshall, Arkansas, along the Buffalo River. Meeting time will be 9:30 a.m. the morning of the hike in Morning Star, Arkansas (please refer to the attached map), where South Maumee Rd. intersects with Highway 27 which runs between Harriet, Arkansas, and Marshall, Arkansas.
The length of the hike is estimated at somewhere between five and six miles and is rated as moderately difficult due primarily to the length. As it is with hikes on the Buffalo River Trail (BRT), our four-legged friends cannot come along due to park regulations.
This is a beautiful stretch of trail, so I hope everyone can make it for the final hike of this season (EC outings will resume in September). As is always the case, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via email, and I will do my best to respond promptly.
I will be posting this hike in the Events section of the OHTA Facebook page in the very near future. So, till next time, be safe and healthy, and HIKE ONWARD!!
