Richland Creek Rock & Roll Rendezvous

Richland Creek Rock & Roll Rendezvous

5 people participated in the February 16 Richland Creek Rock & Roll Rendezvous – a project to fill a hole in the trail about a mile north of the Richland Creek campground.

The hole turned-out to be much bigger than expected and it was apparent that filling it would only be a temporary fix.  Traffic had moved up the slope around the hole so we did the pragmatic thing and dug about 20 feet of new tread to make that detour official.

While most worked on that, Maintenance Coordinator Steven Parker headed north to find a tree that had been reported down on the trail and came across a long stretch of trail that crossed a low area that was now basically a swamp.  We all went up to spend a few hours moving about 200 yards of trail higher up the slope.

On the way back out we cut a couple trees from the trail and installed one of the new trail registers near the trail head.  New registers were also installed later that day at Fairview and Ben Hur.

In addition to the great satisfaction of making the trail better, participants received a limited-edition commemorative t-shirt – the third in a series.
