Canceled: Lower Buffalo Wilderness Backpacking

Canceled: Lower Buffalo Wilderness Backpacking

***** Canceled *****

Date:
Type: Backpacking
Location: Lower Buffalo Wilderness
Description: Meet by 9:30AM at the Rock Creek Cemetery and Rock Creek Community Building parking lot at the intersection of Hwy. 14 and Cozahome Road–approximately 20 miles south of Yellville, Arkansas, on Hwy. 14

We will drive from the parking lot at the Hwy. 14 and Cozahome Rd intersection to the Cozahome trail head, and that is where the overnight hike will start. From there we’ll journey down an old road/trail along Jones Hollow to our camp location in the Jones Bend area. Once camp is established, there are several options for excursions: Devil’s Tea Table, the natural bridge, the big bluff overlooking the Buffalo River just downstream from Bice Bend, and wherever else folks want to hike. We will pack up and leave Sunday.

The hike in to where we will camp is roughly 1 1/2 miles, and the possible excursions vary in distance from where we will camp. All ages are welcome on the hike, and the difficulty will be easy to moderate depending on the excursion you decide to take. Of course, there is always the option of just chillin’ in camp once you’re there.
