Camping/Lodging Options
OHTA has reserved campsites 31 through 39 at the Dam-Quarry Park
at Lake Norfork. We are limited to 1 RV or 2 tents per campsite. There are
electrical connections and covered picnic tables at each campsite, with
water spigots nearby. Sherrie reports, “As of now, I have 4 parties in tents
and 4 in RV’s. The tents can double up on sites if necessary.”
Immediately adjacent to the Dam-Quarry Park (and within easy
walking distance) is Gene’s Trout Fishing Resort, offering cabins, guided
trout fishing trips, and boat rentals. It is suggested you make

Other lodging options nearer the town of Norfork (3.5 miles from
the campground) are P.J.’s (877-761-7575), Whispering Woods (870-499-5531)
and Norfork River Resort (870-499-5757).
General Information
The town of Norfork is 3.5 miles from the Dam-Quarry Campground
and is a wonderfully quaint little Ozark community. There is a grocery
store, a café, gift shops, a brewery, a sporting goods store, a fly shop,
and the historic Jacob Wolf House to explore.
During times when no OHTA activities are scheduled, you may want
to take advantage of some of the following activity options:

Firewood should be purchased locally rather than transporting
from distances to minimize the chance of spreading disease. There are
several locations near the campground for firewood purchases for your
individual sites, or there may be ample firewood available from James Hodges
or the Dam Quarry Campground Host.
HIKING
Friday May 1, 2020
Trail: Matney Knob Trailhead to old Matney riverside campsite on the White
River
Distance of hike: approximately 6 miles, out and back
Difficulty of hike: moderate to strenuous due to undulating terrain
Meeting Time: 9:00 at Quarry Park Campground Pavilion (see Judy Woltjen at
Pavilion about shuttle ride) OR 9:30 a.m. at Matney Knob Trailhead on Hwy
341/Push Mountain Rd.
NOTE: Please RSVP for this hike by April 24, 2020 to Sherrie Hansen

shuttle service since trailhead parking is limited.

Trails: Robinson Point Loop Trail and Norfork Trail
Distance of hike: Total of both hikes approximately 6 miles
Difficulty of hike: moderate due to undulating terrain and rocks
Meeting Time: 9:00 at Quarry Park Campground Pavilion (see Judy Woltjen at
Pavilion about shuttle ride) OR 9:30 a.m. at Robinson Point Trailhead (drive
yourself).
Directions to TH: Get on 5 N to 412/Sheid Hopper Bypass to Hwy 62E and turn
right. Go about 8.3 miles to Robinson Point brown sign, turn right on
Robinson Point Rd. and follow road 2.3 miles to the campground. TH on right
just before guard shack.
PLAN: We will hike the 3-mile Robinson Point Loop Trail and return to Quarry
Park Campground for do-it-yourself lunch around noon.
Extras: All ages welcome. Please have water, snacks, proper hiking
gear—trail is sometimes rocky.
2nd Hike Meeting Time: 1:30 p.m. at Campground Pavilion (see Judy Woltjen at
Pavilion for the shuttle ride).
