Difficulty of hike: moderate due to undulating terrain

Meeting Time: 9:30 a.m.

Meeting Place: North side of the Walmart parking lot in Harrison, Arkansas

Plan: Those who prefer not to drive their vehicle to where the hike will commence can park their vehicles at our meeting point and ride along with someone. Otherwise, everyone is welcome to drive down into Newton County, Arkansas. The road running approximately three miles from Highway 43 east to the trail head can be rough and rutted. There is a map attached showing our starting point.

Extras: All ages welcome, especially kids. Please bring a snack, water, and proper hiking gear (boots, headlamp, cap/beanie, gloves, etc.). The trail will take us past waterfalls, along beautiful streams, and to the mouths of caves (entrance into the caves is forbidden due to concerns about the spread of White Nose Syndrome in the bat population). There will be a couple creek crossings, so packing a pair of water shoes is recommended.
