22 Feb Canceled: Take a kid hiking – Leatherwood Wilderness
** Canceled **
Date: April 4 2020, 9:30AM
Type: Day hike
Location: Almus Knob trail system in Leatherwood Wilderness
Distance of hike: approximately 1.5 to 2 miles
Difficulty of hike: moderate due to an uphill stretch
Meeting Time: 9:30 a.m.
Meeting Place: Intersection of Rand Road and Highway 341 (Push Mountain Road). The intersection is located at the southeast corner of Leatherwood Wilderness which is about 2.2 miles north of the Highway 14 and Highway 341 intersection or about 22.4 miles north of the intersection of Highway 201 and Highway 341 all in Baxter County, Arkansas.
Plan: Those who prefer not to drive their vehicle west about 6 miles down Rand Road to where the hike will commence can park their vehicles at our meeting point and ride along with someone. Otherwise, everyone is welcome to drive down to the foot of Almus Knob. There is a map attached showing our starting point. The trail will take us to caves and to the very scenic views captured from the bluff line of Almus Knob.
Extras: All ages welcome, especially kids. Please bring a snack, water, and proper hiking gear (boots, headlamp, cap/beanie, gloves, etc.)
Contact: If you plan on making this hike, please contact Phil Brown prior to the hike so he will know who all will be on the hike and so he can let you know if the hike is postponed due to weather — email: brown.philip9@gmail.com
