Eastern Chapter Hike

Yes, the first hike for the Eastern Chapter (EC) of the Ozark Highlands Trail Association (OHTA) is scheduled for Saturday, October 13, 2018.  The hike will be from Cripple Turkey Trailhead (TH) to Moccasin Springs TH.  We will meet at 9:30 a.m. at Moccasin Springs TH and then shuttle to Cripple Turkey TH where our hike will commence.

For those of you who may not be familiar with the area, Moccasin Springs TH is located about 1.6 miles north of the intersection of Highway 341 (aka Push Mountain Road) and Highway 14.  The intersection if about 3.8 miles east of Big Flat, Arkansas.  I have attached a copy of the map for the hike.

The distance from Cripple Turkey TH to Moccasin Springs TH is approximately 4.6 miles.  For the most part, the terrain is rolling, so the hike is rated as ‘moderate’ in difficulty.

Of course, the hike is open to all ages, and since we are not hiking in the Buffalo National Park, our four-legged companions are welcome.
