Hike Indian Creek

Hike Indian Creek

There will be a hike up Indian Creek to Needle’s Eye and back to the campground on both Saturday April 6 and Sunday April 7.  Everyone is welcome either or both days.

We will meet at 9:30 a.m. at the west end of the Kyles Landing campground along the beautiful river. To get there, head to Jasper, Arkansas, and just north of the Little Buffalo River bridge is the intersection of highways 7 and 74. Head west on highway 74 and travel about 5 miles. Be looking on the north side of the road for Buffalo River Canoes, and it is there you will turn north onto Camp Orr road. Follow the road clear down to Kyles Landing. On your way down there you will come onto the road down to Camp Orr–do not take that road. Head straight ahead.

The total distance of each day’s hike is about 4 miles, and the hike is rated as moderate to difficult. There is one very difficult spot about 200 to 300 yards before Needle’s Eye that requires some climbing, but if we work as a group, we can all make it. Bring your cameras because if it has rained recently you will have plenty of photo ops. You will also have several creek crossings, but those are usually doable without getting the feet wet. This is one scenic hike, and I hope you can make it!
